• Brief Overview of Borrowing Conditions

Please bring your library card every time you want to borrow a book. Should you lose your card, please notify the loans desk (07121-2711363) so that we can put a stop on your account. According to our guidelines for use, you are liable for any misuse of your card. If your card is lost for good, you can have a new card issued for € 5,00. The old card is then void.

In order to get an overview of your account, please go to our  catalogue and click on "My account".

Your account number can be found on your library card or your student ID. Enter it without the hyphens. Your default password is your date of birth (DDMMYYYY). Please remember to change it as soon as possible under "Change Password".

Please return your books during opening hours at the loans desk in the library.

Outside the opening hours you can return your books via the book returns box outside the library.

If you cannot come to the library before your books are due your books may be returned in the mail as well. Please note that the postal return is done at the reader's own risk.

Should a book already be on loan, you have the option of placing a reservation on it. You can do this yourself on the Internet in our catalogue.

 To do so, click on "Bestellen" in the title display. When asked for your account number, enter the number on your library card. Enter your password, which is your date of birth (DDMMYYYY). Now click on "Anmeldung abschicken". Then click on the button "Bestellen". You will get the message "Die Vormerkung ist erfolgt.".

You will be notified by e-mail as soon as the book you placed a reservation on is ready for you. Please pick up the book at the loans desk within the next seven days.

Books marked "Lesesaal - keine Ausleihe" ("For Reference Only") can be borrowed over the weekend: from 12:00 noon Friday until 12:00 noon Monday. Overnight short loans are possible from 12:00 noon until 12:00 noon the following day. Journals and newspapers cannot be borrowed.

NB: Fines will be charged if books are returned late.

You will be notified if you do not return an item by its due date. These notifications are subject to fines. The fines are set out in the Guidelines for Library Fines of Reutlingen University Library. The fines become effective when they are entered in the electronic circulation system and not when the notifications are sent by e-mail or letter.
