Through inter-library loans you can order books and articles (from magazines or journals) that our library doesn`t have on hand.
Please check the  Opac carefully first to see exactly what we have on hand.
If it is proven that the desired title is not in our library catalog, you can order it through inter-library loans.
The foundation for the national inter-library loan network are the terms of  Ordnung des Leihverkehrs in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland (LVO) and the Bibliotheksgebührenordnung (BiblGebVO) des Landes Baden-Württemberg.

What can be ordered ?

Books and articles from magazines which we do not have on stock can be ordered from other libraries by inter-library loan.

What cannot be ordered ?

Books and magazines, which we do have on stock

Books which are available for less then 15 Euro in the trade

Complete issues of recently published magazines

Newspapers and overweight  works

Loose-leaf publications

Diploma and master`s thesis

Patent specifications and DIN-Norms

Costs

Please pay attention, that inter-library loan orders and photocopies up to 20 pages cost 1.50 Euro each order. For copies of more than 40 pages, each page there after is 0.10 Euro per page. Please give us a price limit on all such orders as not to be surprised by the high costs.
Inquire in the inter-library loan office if you are in doubt about an order. Unfortunalely, for incorrect or unsuccessful orders we cannot return your money.

For international orders the following prevails:
International orders are expensive (at least 10 Euro) and can take much time, especially orders from outside EU.

Orders

Orders for the inter-library loan can be processed using an online order form via our online catalog Opac.
All our registered customers can do so using their registration number and PIN.
Each inter-library order will be charged with 1.50 Euro. After sending the order your account will be charged with the ordering fee, which has to be paid at the circulation desk. Please be aware, that the fee will be charged always, even though your order might not be succesful.
If you are unsure about a certain order, please contact the inter-library office via e-mail or in person before placing an order.

 

Delivery time

Depending on the mail and processing time, it usually takes an average of 1-3 weeks. In some cases, as with international loan for example, it could take up to months.

Pick up and check out

As soon your order arrived we will send you an e-mail and you can pick up your order in the inter-library office.
Articles from magazines will be send as photocopies and do not have to be returned. Up to 20 copied pages are free of charge.
Your inter-library loan order is administrated within our online system.

Check out period / renewals

  The period of loan is scheduled by the library to which the book belongs (please pay attention to the blue date label) . A renewal, provided it is allowed by the loaning library can be made through our inter-library loan office the week before the loan period ends. If your request of renewal has been denied, we will inform you as soon as possible.

Document delivery

Do you need a book urgently or do you want the book to be delivered to your workplace?
Direct delivery of documents offers an alternative to conventional inter-library loans.The requester can search the database him-or herself and order directly from the database. The document will then be directly delivered to your work place or office.
