Health insurance

In order to study at the University you must have adequate health insurance. You can take this out in your home country (foreign health insurance certificate), or you may take out student's health insurance in Germany (normally with the State Insurance Scheme "Allgemeine OrtsKrankenkasse", AOK, for a special students' premium of approx. €60 per month).

In this latter case you should nevertheless take out travel insurance in your home country, so that you are insured for medical treatment on the journey and during your first few days here.

If you bring a foreign certificate of insurance with you, this must be approved by the AOK.

State-insured students from the European Union need the blue European Insurance Card called EHIC or another foreign health insurance certificate like the E 128-f or E 111-form.
