With the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung enables some 1,200 students a year from all over the world to study in a foreign country for a period of three to eleven months. The objective of the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students is to promote the international exchange of highly qualified German and foreign students. The scholarships are divided equally between applicants from Baden-Württemberg and from abroad.

 

The programme partner Baden-Württemberg International implements the Baden-Württemberg-STIPENDIUM for University Students on behalf of the  Baden-Württemberg Stiftung. Baden-Württemberg International is the competence centre of the state of Baden-Württemberg for internationalisation, marketing and development of economics, science and research.

Eligibility

 

To be eligible for the programme students must:

 

- be registered full-time with their university
- have completed at least two semesters of study before planned study abroad
- be students of subjects taught at Ludwigsburg

 

A knowledge of German is desirable but not essential (please speak with your international office adviser if you are in doubt about this).

 

Application procedure and information

 

Students are entitled to apply for scholarship places published by their university. Normally your Office of International Affairs will be responsible for organising the selection procedure.

 

Scholarship applications for 2015-16 must be submitted to the universities by no later than 31.03.2015 for the winter smester 2015/16 and 15.12.2015 for the summer semester 2016.

 

Scholarship Applications

 

Scholarship applications must include the following documents:

 

- letter of application, including study details and formal curriculum vitae
- certificate of enrolment
- transcript of records
- proof of relevant foreign language aptitude (German, English or French)
- appraisal by a tutoring professor

Selection Process

 

Candidates will be shortlisted by their university in consultation with Ludwigsburg University of Education. The results of the shortlisting procedure and the list of applicants are then passed on to a Central Scholarship Commission.  From there the selected applications are submitted to the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung for the final decision. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by e-mail.

 

Obligations

 

Acceptance of a scholarship binds the candidate to enrolment at the university in question, to the dedicated pursuit of his/her chosen course of study, and to attendance at Baden-Württemberg Stiftung functions. On completion, scholars are required to write a short report (max. 5 sides of A4) of their impressions and experiences during their stay to be submittedto the International Office of LUE.

Baden-Württemberg Stiftung gGmbH (Baden-Württemberg Foundation)

 

The Baden-Württemberg Stiftung was formed from the Landesbeteiligungen Baden-Württemberg GmbH in 2000. It fosters charitable projects with the common aim of promoting the future potential of Baden-Württemberg. Particular emphasis is placed on educational initiatives and science and research projects.

 

The Stiftung's legal status is that of a non-profit-making limited company (gGmbH), its sole shareholder being the State of Baden-Württemberg. Its Supervisory Board numbers eighteen: 9 representatives of the State Parliament, and 9 representatives of the Baden-Württemberg Government. The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung is Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann.
