On this page you can find all the requirements for studying at the Ludwigsburg University of Education.
  • If you meet the following requirements, you can apply here during the appropriate application time frames.

  • Proof of German language proficiency: In order to study at the University of Education, you must be able to speak German fluently and with ease. Therefore, applicants must provide proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language at C1 level with the DSH-2 exam, TestDaF-4 exam, telc-C1-Hochschule exam or a comparable exam before starting their studies.
When applying, you must enclose a certificate of a recognized C1 German language certificate (in addition to the examinations already mentioned, also C1-Goethe, language diploma of the Kultusministerkonferenz - second level or the Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung).

Although the Ludwigsburg University of Education does not usually offer German courses before admission to the degree program, it will be possible to take the TestDaF exam (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) from February 2024! Further information can be found under the following link: www.ph-ludwigsburg.de/hochschule/einrichtungen/sprachdidaktisches-zentrum/sprachkurse-sprachtest-sprachentandems. The first TestDaF test will take place on 06.02.2024. You can register for the TestDaF directly via the Testinstitut website www.testdaf.de/de/teilnehmende/mein-testdaf/testdaf-termine-und-anmeldung/. If you have any questions, you can contact Indira Suresh (suresh@ph-ludwigsburg.de) at the Language Center of the PH Ludwigsburg directly.

  • Proof of student counseling: The contact person for advice is Julia Pathe (julia.pathe@ph-ludwigsburg.de) from the Student Affairs Department, who is also responsible for your application as an international student. She can therefore help you with questions about degree programs and your application. After your consultation, you will need to present a completed certificate when applying.

  • University entrance qualification for German universities: Educational certificates from abroad must be equivalent to the requirements of a German school-leaving examination. The University of Education checks this eligibility and is happy to help with advice in advance.
  • Original certificates of your educational qualifications: If your original certificates were not issued in German, English or French, you must enclose an officially certified translation. These translations must be prepared by German authorities (consulates and embassies; other diplomatic missions) in your home country. If you are already in Germany at the time of application, the translations must be prepared by an officially sworn interpreter. You can find more information on the requirements for your documents on the website for admission requirements under Die Beglaubigung.
  • Proof of financial security: You must provide proof of financial security for your studies to the Immigration Office. This means that you must show that you can finance the entire duration of your stay, otherwise you will not receive a residence permit. When planning your studies, allow for living costs of at least 700 euros per month. You can find options for financing your studies here
  • Other requirements: Certain language requirements must be met for some degree courses and subjects. Further information on this can be found on the pages of the relevant subjects and institutes.
