FAQs

I am not a member of university, can I still borrow books?

Yes, of course you can. All public university libraries are required to support lifelong learning of the area's entire population. Library cards and borrowing are free (except for inter-library loans). To register please bring your ID card (Personalausweis) or your passport and a valid official proof of residence. A passport on its own is not sufficient.

As a student of Reutlingen University can I use other university libraries?

Certainly. University libraries are public insitutions. As a rule you can register with your valid ID card (Personalausweis) at any
university and regional library (Landesbibliothek). Please see the fee guidelines of the respective library for any charges that may incur.

How do I reach the libray?

We're based on the Hohbuch campus. You can reach us with public transport using bus numbers 4 and 11 (direction Hohbuch); the nearest bus stop is Hochschulen. Bus timetables can be found at  http://www.naldo.de.

Further information regarding opening hours, directions, address, etc. can be found under "About us".

How and how many times can I renew my items?

All borrowed media can be renewed three times. Items that have been reserved by other users cannot be renewed. Reference-only items borrowed over night and inter-library loans cannot be renewed either.

To renew books please use the account option on the left side of our catalogue page.

Can I return books in the mail?

Yes, you can send your borrowed books in the mail. Returning books this way, however, is done at your own risk.

Can I delete my reservations?

You can delete your reservations online. You can access your account through our catalogue page.

How can I access licensed databases?

Licensed databases can be searched at the computers in the library.

As a member of university you can use some databases from home. Conditions of access depend on the database provider. A description of these conditions can be found on  DBIS, our database information system.

Is it possible to photocopy and scan in the library?

There are 4 colour copiers in the library.

There is also a book scanner in the library. You can scan books and journals free of charge. Printing the scans off is not possible though, so please bring your USB stick.

Can I print in the library?

Yes, all our computers are connected to a laser printer. Please bring your own paper for printing. On campus you can purchase printer paper at the  Campusshop of Jung Bookshop.
