Step: Enrollment in classes will take place after the arrival of the international students in Ludwigsburg.
Existence of a valid agreement between the home university and LUE.
Required language skills: German at least level B1.2 and/or English level B2 (to be officially documented upon request).
Erasmus+ students please check the regulations for the ECTS of their home university.
Students who receive a scholarship of the LUE are required to earn at least 20 ECTS.

After receiving and checking your documents here at the international office you will receive the confirmation that you have been accepted as a international student along with further information about the process.
We will inform the admission department as well as the public authorities and the Studierendenwerk about your planned stay.
The final and legally binding matriculation takes place after your arrival. Therefore, it is important that you are here for the obligatory welcome programme at the start of the semester.
We will help you fill in all relevant forms and hand them over to the admission department for you as well as sending over your documents to the city of Ludwigsburg.

Taking biometric pictures according to German standard for all non-EU-citizens who require a new Visa for the city of Ludwigsburg and their studies at Ludwigsburg University of Education. For students receiving a scholarship this Visa is free, otherwise a payment of currently 50 EUR needs to be made
Getting health insurance at a German insurance company, AOK or Barmer for example
Opening a bank account (voluntarily, free) and transferring the semester fee (social fee for cheaper Mensa food, consulting services etc., no tuition fee!) of currently approx. 90 EUR for exchange students from our partnr universities and approx. 175 EUR for free mover
Once all forms have been filled in and handed in and the amount due has been paid you will be matriculated and receive your student ID card with your matriculation number. This matriculation number is your personal identification number as a student at Ludwigsburg University of Education.

*The lecture period is a little shorter and varies from year to year.
Normally, the lecture period in the winter semester starts in the middle of October and ends in the beginning of February. There is a short winter break without lectures between Christmas and January 6th. The examination weeks take place from the beginning to the middle of February.
After a short spring break, the lecture period in the summer semester starts approx. in the middle of April and ends in the end of July. There is an excursion week after Whitsunday where no lectures are held. The examination weeks take place from the beginning to the middle of August.
