Twice a semester, staff meet informally during their lunch break to share international projects, experiences and new ideas. The format is also designed to involve colleagues who have not yet been involved in international activities but would like to be. Here you can find our reports on past Brown Bag sessions.

In future, international engagement will be taken into account in performance review and annual appraisal meetings.

Lecturers at LUE collaborate with partner universities through international teaching tandems, guest lectures and joint seminars.

In collaboration with partner universities, joint teaching formats are being developed in which lecturers from several countries teach together.

The modules ‘Teaching Social Sciences for an Interconnected World’ and 'Putting Art and Design into Practice' are being developed jointly and are aimed at international students, but they also serve as a key platform for collaboration among the participating lecturers. International lecture series, summer schools and short courses are planned and delivered jointly by teaching staff.

Teachers are working with partners from Romania, Norway, Denmark and South Africa to develop a digital module on ‘Critical Global Citizenship’.

Content focus: The module draws on approaches that are critical of hegemony, postcolonial and multi-perspectival, and expands international teacher training beyond mere interculturalism.

Sustainable use: The module is intended to be further developed into a micro-credential at a later stage.

Together with partner universities, lecturers are exploring how AI can be used in teaching in a meaningful, critical and interdisciplinary way.

Planned activities include workshops such as ‘How to prompt efficiently?’ and the development of an AI literacy toolkit for teaching and learning.

A support centre assists teachers with integrating AI tools and producing explanatory videos.

In collaboration with the Universities of education in Freiburg and Weingarten, a network is being established to promote the ‘internationalisation of teacher training in Baden-Württemberg’.

The network’s objectives: sharing best practice, joint structural developments, improved recognition procedures and coordinated internationalisation initiatives.

Regular meetings: Four network meetings are planned each year, three of which will be virtual and one in person.
