What is the honorarium?

The honorarium for the 21 hours is 952 EUR (approximately 1,043 US $). The financial conditions for classroom and online teaching are the same.
We will provide you a document to write down the hours you spend on the course (preparation and conducting the course). You would need to hand in a kind of timetable that shows when teaching/preparation took place. Maximum 21 hours (1 hour = 60mins) will be paid and we will do an online transfer into your US bank account. According to German taxation regulations, these amounts may be subject to taxation, but this has not been a problem so far.

How can I access the internet?

Upon your arrival, you will receive a personal internet account. With that you can log onto eduroam while being on campus and in case you live in one of the one-room apartments. If you are in the big apartment, you will find another WLAN code to log in.

What is the technical equipment like in the seminar rooms?

Every room is equipped with a beamer and a computer. You can either log onto the computer or plug in your own laptop to show a presentation or anything else. If you have copies to be made, best would be to send the documents to us before. That way we can make the copies before your arrival and it will be smoother once the seminar starts. In case you need any other sort of technical equipment, please let us know and we will find out if we can organise it.

Can I bring my family?

We would love to get to know your family and to have them here as well. As mentioned in the question: ‘Where do I live?’, we can offer you an apartment which gives space for at least 4 people. In case you are interested in that apartment, please let us know. That way we can check whether it is available during the time of your stay. The cost for your stay will be covered by the International Office. Though, we would kindly ask you to take over the costs for your family.

Where do I live?

We can offer our guest either a one-room apartment or our guest apartment with has 3 bedrooms and gives space for at least 4 guests. This is especially interesting for guests that would like to bring their family or partner. For more information on that, please have a look at the question: Can I bring my family?
Both apartments are located only a 5-minute walk from the campus and a 2-minute walk to the train station. Supermarkets are close by and there is a big park for nice walks just around the corner. For photos, pricing and more information please have a look at the flyer for the appartements.

How do I get to the campus?

In case you travel by plane and land in Stuttgart, we put together a little travel guide which will help you to find your way. Of course you can also always use Google Maps. Before you come to Germany, download the map of Ludwigsburg and the greater area (preferably also Stuttgart) in the app. This way you can use it for directions even though you don’t have internet access. If you land anywhere else or arrive by bus and need some help with directions, please let us know. We are always more than happy to help.
Once you arrived at the campus train station, we will pick you up to welcome you with a coffee or tea at our International Office.
