Arrival and departure
International students should arrive at the latest by the compulsory information sessions. These always take place on the Wednesday and Thursday before the official start of classes.
We recommend arriving earlier to be able to participate in the welcome program and the preparatory language course. This program usually starts one day after your move-in, which is about two weeks before the first week of classes.
After your online-application you will receive a letter with all necessary dates. You may also click on the links above. In any case it is best to arrive on the official move-in day. It is not possible to arrive Friday afternoon, on a holiday or on weekends!
Move-in: The day of move-in is generally the first weekday of October (winter term) and April (summer term) between 8.00 am and 3.00 pm. The latest day of move-in is the first compulsory information day (Wednesday) before classes start. When making travel arrangements be sure to take into account German public holidays: Two examples are 3rd October (German Unification Day) and Easter, when the LUE will be closed. The student village does not have a reception office and will be closed as well so in this case you would have to stay in a youth hostel at your own expense.
Move-out: You need to be present when the caretaker checks your room. That is only possible Monday through Friday until 4.00 pm and not on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays! Therefore, please do not plan to move-out outside the caretakers' office hours. Mondays to Thursdays are the best days for moving out.
